“I have always fished. As a boy, I would fish the River Mole in Surrey with nothing but a float and a maggot. My Dad had a small boat, and we would go
to the sea from Littlehampton most weekends. I’d always come home with mackerel for my poor Mum to deal with!
I moved to Cornwall just over twenty years ago, and that’s where my more recent love of fishing was rekindled. I fish every week, whether it’s Rainbow
Trout fishing on small still waters or drifting a boat on the bigger reservoirs. Occasionally I like to go sea fishing; I recently caught Blue Sharks just off
the coast of Looe which was an amazing experience.
I’m involved with a handful of angling committees, including most clubs on the River Fowey – which is my local river – and the neighbouring Lynher. I
also run Colliford Salmon Hatchery, growing and stocking salmon for conservation. We recently took on the running of Lanhydrock Angling
Association from the National Trust, and it was the obvious choice to use Clubmate so that we could sell memberships online, go paperless and start
accepting online card payments. It allowed us to offer high-quality club merchandise for members too! I’m excited to be part of the Clubmate team and
cannot wait to start helping other fishing clubs benefit in the same way we have at LAA.”
